From Newbs to Bosses: A Technology Blog

In the tech world, the word "newb" is often used to mean novice, and similarly, words such as beast or boss mean veteran or expert. Are you a "newb" in the tech world? If so, I would love to help you advance to the boss level. In this blog, I am going to write about all kinds of technology. I hope to start with basic posts and work to more advanced information, and I hope that approach works for you and that all of your questions get answered. I used to head an IT department, but recently, I have decided to pursue a career in teaching. Whilst I am in school, I hope to augment my studies with side projects like this blog. My name is Kendahl, and thank you for reading!

Considerations for Building Design

Building designs encompass all the architectural, engineering and technical planning that goes into creating a building design. Building designers are licensed professionals who have studied architecture or engineering to gain all the necessary skills for designing buildings. Building designers do not work on the building themselves; they usually collaborate with other professionals who are specialists in their fields.

Who hires building designers?

Building designers are hired to design buildings both commercial and residential in nature. People envision all kinds of building designs when it comes to constructing their home. In order to make this vision a reality, they will hire a building designer to coordinate and successfully the design. The building designer will ensure that they do their best to create the design envisioned by the client; however, if the design has any shortcomings, they will suggest better alternatives. They will also ensure that the proposed design complies with local building and planning regulations.

Building designers are commonly hired for large-scale commercial building projects. These buildings have complex designs that need to be initially drafted and perfected before construction can begin. Commercial buildings include restaurants, child care centres, education facilities, offices and retail outlets. Each commercial building has specific design requirements. For instance, an increasing number of buildings are now being built from an environmental perspective. This means that sustainable materials are being used for construction, day lighting is being installed and renewable energy sources are being used. These specifications must be carefully kept in mind by the building designer when creating the building draft.

Building designers are also hired for industrial design and drafting. Industrial buildings such as warehouses, factories and cool room facilities have to be designed with carefully articulated features. For instance, when designing warehouses, building designers must take the loading zone into consideration. This area must be spacious and easily accessible by transport vehicles.

What qualifications does a building designer have?

Building designers can have a background in interior design, architecture and engineering. Building designers may also be licensed architects. However, some building designers may have architectural qualifications but have not been registered with any professional body. Building designers with the most industry experience should be preferred, especially for complex building projects. Problems in the design of a building can cause issues after construction is completed. In such a case, fixing this design issue can be a costly process and can also decrease building value.

Before selecting a building designer, make sure that you have a budget and design concept in mind.
